Waste management issues in Spain, resource in Lebanon.

In crisis-ridden Lebanon, an informal and precarious parallel economy of waste helps reduce them while providing a source of income to the most vulnerable, often war refugees. In Spain, public opinion is becoming aware of the dangers posed by tons of waste dumped in nature and is mobilizing. Citizen clean-up projects are multiplying with impressive results.

In Lebanon, an economic crisis and extremely low wages have pushed many people to search through garbage bins to collect recyclable materials and sell them. This parallel waste economy, although informal and precarious, helps to reduce waste while allowing the most disadvantaged to earn money.

There is a growing awareness of the danger posed by the tons of waste thrown into nature. A project like Libera Spain attests to this with over 680 tons collected since 2017. It reflects the commitment of a society more engaged in environmental protection and more sensitive to the conservation of biodiversity.
